Women in Kisumu County have strategised on how to mobilise locals who have not registered for identity cards to come out and register.
Rosa Buyu, an ODM party national official, said women are better placed to reach out to everyone in the county.
Buyu said they will also flush out those without the voters’ cards to come out and register in the month of February when IEBC rolls out the voters’ registration.
She said that women are better placed to get out the youth and the old people in the society.
“These women are the mothers of these young people who have refused to register, they are the wives to these men who are dilly dallying to register. Or women will reach out to them” she said.
Speaking on Friday at Kisumu Central ODM office where she met all the women party leaders in Kisumu County, Buyu said Raila Odinga failed to ascend to power in 2013 because of low voter registration.
She said there is no tyranny of numbers, noting that Nyanza people have the potential to register for the voters’ card.
Buyu said there are people with IDs but have failed to register for voters’ cards.
She said the campaign is now to get people t register for the two documents.
“This time round we will not have people with no voters’ cards and we will not allow people to skip voting yet they have that document,” she said.
Buyu said the big campaign will come the next elections where the rally will be to get people to come out and vote.
