An exam official has assured candidates sitting for the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examinations in Nyamira South sub county that elaborate measures have been put in place to ensure that they sit the examinations in a conducive environment.

Speaking in Makairo Primary School during the exam rehearsal Monday morning, Nyamira South sub county Kenya National Examinations Council (Knec) representative Julius Tundura said measures are in place to ensure exams kicks off on time and that no cheating will take place.

He said cases of exam malpractice will be met with serious action and anyone caught cheating will be arrested and arraigned in court.

This comes after reports emerged that some candidates were collecting money to buy Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exam papers.

He assured that such acts will not be tolerated in KCPE exams.

He revealed that officers monitoring the exams have been drawn from Knec, Ministry of Education headquarters, Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development, Teachers Service Commission and Kenya Secondary School Heads Association.

He urged teachers and pupils to refrain from exam cheating to avoid arrest.

KCPE exams will start on Tuesday this week.
