Kenya National Union of Nurses (Knun) chairperson John Biiy has criticised the move by security guards at Aga Khan Nursery School in Eldoret of hindering medical officers from accessing the school premises to administer polio vaccine on children.

Biiy said the guards' actions were primitive and uncalled for.

"I wonder how a person can block medical officers from administering polio vaccine, even after explanations from the officer in charge," he said.

He urged members of the public not to sabotage the ongoing polio vaccination exercise targeting children below the age of five.

"Polio vaccine is very important, if not administered to a child early in life, it can cause paralysis and even affect normal growth and development," he said.
