The Kenya Social Congress (KSC) party chairman, Atati Kengere, has said that the party needs to be independent come 2017 general elections.

While addressing KSC delegates at a Kisii hotel on Tuesday, Kengere said that the party needs to stand alone for the next general election by choosing its candidates in a free and fair process.

''As the party we have decided to stand alone without joining or supporting any party simply because we have been sidelined as the party by other parties after,'' said Atati.

He added that in the last general election, they supported  CORD but after elections, they were kicked to the curb so this time they have vowed to work on their own so that delegates can benefit.

The chairman said they have set up measures to ensure the party gains support from all Kisii residents.

''We have set up measures in place which will enable us to reach all parts of Gusii land and mobilise residents to join this part,'' added Atati.

The Kenya Social Congress was formed by the late Former  Kitutu Masaba MP, George Anyona Moseti.
