Kenyatta University is considering setting up another satellite campus in Nakuru County, Molo, to be specific, if indicators by the institution’s top management are anything to go by.

This comes after officials from the university main campus led by Vice Chancellor Prof Olive Mugenda on Friday toured Molo Constituency and even held consultative talks with area MP Jacob Macharia and representatives from the sub-county office of Education.

Although the reason of the visit has not been made public, stakeholders in the sector believe that something constructive could be in the pipeline.

Speaking at the Sub-County Education offices, Prof Mugenda said counties had offered a platform that the education sector has to embrace in ensuring tertiary education is made available to the lowest level possible.

“Through having blanket colleges in such areas, bright students who might not have the capacity of accessing our main campus will still have the chance of accessing the same course using the available resources,” she said.

She emphasized on the importance of educating the girl child saying the country has become more competitive because of having more women in influential positions.

MP Macharia promised to use the Constituency Development Fund kitty in supporting bright but needy students in the area so that they be able to access their tertiary education.
