A crisis is looming between motorcycle operators plying their trade in Kuresoi North and area MP Moses Cheboi with a majority accusing him of ignoring their plight of having roads in the area fixed.
They are complaining of the pathetic state of roads under which they are forced to operate and have now threatened to demonstrate and lead a vote of no confidence against their MP.
A majority of the operators who spoke to Hivisasa accused Cheboi of not utilising the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) well and are now demanding for an account of the monies for the past two financial years.
“We are tired of the many false promises our local leaders have subjected us to. Time has come for us to show them that enough is enough and if they don’t act, we will,” noted Meshak Bitok, a bodaboda operator.
He faults MP Cheboi for allowing his advisors to mislead him on what development project to prioritise saying that as voters and business persons in Kuresoi, they regret giving him the chance to lead them.
“We are concerned about our roads because we use them on a daily basis but analysing his development plan, our MP is a real let down because evidently, our area is among the most under-developed places in Kuresoi, where is the money meant for developing our area?" he wondered.
Anne Nyaga, a business lady at the Mung'etho shopping centre is unhappy with the fact that the street lighting project has never materialised in her constituency.
She says that other areas were striving economically due to having committed leaders while Kuresoi North continued to lag behind as if there was nobody to attend to their unending grievances.
“A poor road network coupled with poor lighting system makes our lives unbearable because we are always targeted by criminals as we negotiate the bad roads after closing our businesses late. Somebody got to tell our MP that we are tired,” she said.
A delegation of five has been so far been sent to the MPs local office and the residents have given an ultimatum of three days for receiving communication from the office failure to which they will stage a demonstration.
