When the process of listing new voters started across the country nearly a week ago, it was the dream of Dennis Omondi to be registered as a voter to enable him take part in next year's elections.

However, to the 21-year-old's dream is seemingly dying as he cannot be listed as a voter for lack of biometrics.

Both his hands lack fingerprints that can enable him be listed as a voter.

The youth who just got his ID two years ago is disappointed with the whole thing that is threatening to block him from exercising his democratic right to vote.

He blames working in a quarry for his distorted biometrics.

"I have never voted in my life. I thought that this is going to be my opportunity to choose the leader of my choice. But this dream seems to be fading very fast," said Omondi, a resident of Mtongwe.

According to him, the government and IEBC in particular need to come up with a way to deal with such cases when they arise.

He says that government should consider their plight and assist them accordingly.

"Let the commission understand that we might be many who have this problem. To ensure that we all vote, let people like us be given a consideration to register manually," he added.

As it appears now, Omondi risks being left out of 2017 list of voters unless the relevant body intervenes.
