Lari acting police boss Dorothy Nahashon has urged motorists to adhere to traffic regulations in bid to tame rising road accidents along the Limuru- Lari- Nakuru road.

The police boss has complained over rise in accidents in the last two weeks. She notes that at least five accidents have been reported in the past one week with the latest involving a Matunda company Bus and a private vehicle that led to the death of two people at Murengeti trading center in Lari on Sunday night.

The police boss said that accidents will decline if motorists and all road users adhere to the laid down traffic regulations.

“We are appealing to motorists to strictly follow the traffic rules that are in place so that we can have the number of accidents reduce,” she said during a briefing with journalists at her Lari office on Tuesday.

The Acting police boss said that it will be necessary for motorists to adhere to the laws ahead of the approaching festive season.

She said that traffic police in the sub-county are working closely with the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) to tame road accidents. She asked motorists to exercise caution while driving as the area is experiencing heavy downpour.

Last week a section of Nyambari locals in Lari Sub County complained over rising accidents and called for erection of speed bumps along the Lari-Limuru Road.

The locals claimed that at least three people are knocked down every week by speeding motorists.

This comes as the NTAS says that it will crack the whip on rogue motorists.

NTSA through Chairman Lee Kinyanjui says that speed cameras have been installed on major roads to monitor rogue motorists. The Authority has also deployed traffic marshals who will be patrolling along major roads to net traffic offenders.
