Speaking on Saturday in Sengani area during his cousins funeral senator Muthama said that many leaders mobilise residents to register by discrediting other leaders whereby they should tell the people the importance of registering and voting.

He said that the leaders should do all their best in the mobilization where he gave an example of using motorbikes to carry the elderly to centres and having civic education on the importance of having a voters cards.

"Even if it's door to door ministry of mobilising people to register as voters, let it be done to ensure in 2017 there will be a difference in voter turnout," said Muthama.

He urged leaders to ensure that youths have identification cards and register as voters.

He noted that although the youths have the largest population in the country they are the ones who vote poorly.

Muthama spoke two days before the mass voter registration that will be conducted by IEBC for one month that is aimed at registering more people.

He urged elected leaders to ensure they give their best to the people who elected them if not they will be shown the door come 2017 by the same people who voted for them.

"Elected leaders should do their job and wait for their fate in 2017 according to how they performed in their reign," he added.

Muthama also said that Wiper winning in Masongaleni ward elections on Friday in Makueni is a sign that Wiper will win in presidential elections come 2017.
