National assembly leader of majority Adan Duale has been accused of meddling with the judiciary and urged to stick to bringing sanity to parliament.
This comes few days after Mr Duale was engaged in a duel with Supreme court President Willy Mutunga over alleged corruption in the corridors of justice.
On Monday, two leaders allied to ODM challenged Mr Duale to ‘concentrate’ on handling critical issues in the August House pertaining corruption instead of directing his energies to fighting the judiciary.
“Duale is dwelling on a matter which in the first place he should not. Condemning the judiciary as if he has investigated the bribery claims isn’t the way to go. Parliament has been rocked in a number of corruption related scandals and I wonder why he hasn’t taken time to streamline things in the assembly rather than meddling in the affairs of the judiciary," said Kisii county majority whip Henry Moracha.
His remarks were backed by Mr Ababu Namwamba, who urged Duale to give the CJ a peace of mind and said the bribery allegations facing Supreme Court Judge Philip Tonui should not be directed to Mr Mutunga.
“Mutunga has done a wonderful job in enforcing radical surgery in the judiciary. I want to ask Duale to leave him alone because he’s doing a better job that what Duale is doing in the national assembly. Mr Tonui (Philip) should carry his cross and I think a special committee has been constituted to investigate the matter,” he said.
They were also unanimous that the Ethics and Anti-corruption Commission investigate claims that MPs were cheating to get mileage allowances.
