Tension is looming between Kisii Governor James Ongwae and Kitutu Chache South MP Richard Onyonka after a section of the governor’s supporters slammed the outspoken MP over his continued criticism on the county government.
Mr Onyonka recently criticised the county government’s administration on what he termed as ‘nepotism and favoritism’ in job distribution, remarks that have not gone well with Ongwae’s supporters.
On Sunday, a team of supporters allied to the governor from the constituency dismissed Mr Onyonka’s allegations and challenged him to desist from meddling with county government management.
“He should leave the governor alone and concentrate on over sighting the county government. He is disturbing peaceful coexistence and we want him to stop meddling in the county government management. As residents, we are happy with the county leadership and Mr Onyonka should leave us in peace,” said Caleb Momanyi on behalf of the supporters.
They also questioned the management of the CDF funds by the constituency leadership citing discrimination in awarding of bursaries.
“If he (Onyonka) wants us to unleash, he should be ready. He is aware about numerous complaints by many students and parents of skewed bursary disbursement among many other stalled projects. The governor does employ people and his claims should be directed to CPSB which to us we understand that they are executing their work well,” he added.
They gave the MP an ultimatum of two weeks to come out clean on the allegations or risk facing their wrath in next elections.
“He has done many wrongs including party hopping from ODM to Jubilee against our wishes. He should apologise on those damning claims about the governor or risk facing our wrath in 2017 polls. The governor is a man of integrity and all the allegations on skewed employment labeled against him are malicious,” Momanyi added.
