A goat was on Monday night killed while a small calf was left physically injured allegedly by 2 leopards in Mutugu village within Mataara sub location in Gatundu North.
John Gakuyu, the owner of the goat said that this Tuesday morning, he found his only goat dead at 7:00Am when he was going to milk his cow. According to Gakuya, the dead animal had no blood. Gakuya raised an alarm to the area residents who came to his house and after consultation with the village elders, the source of death was said to be a leopard attack.
Samuel Ng’ang’a, the area assistant chief arrived at the homestaed at 8:00Am and confirmed the incident. He appealed to the Kenya wildlife officers in the area to investigate and take control of the matter before the wild animals do more harm in Mataara.
