County Assembly Majority leader Josephat Lowoi has criticised Mombasa politician Suleiman Shahbal over a recent statement he made saying the Jubilee administration will win the 2017 election at whatever cost.
Mr Lowoi said such utterances were reckless and uncalled for.
"I condemn the utterances by Mombasa politician Suleiman Shahbal with the strongest terms possible," he said.
"Such utterances could polarise the country along political lines that could lead to the re-occurrence of the Post Election Violence that hit the country in 2007."
Mr Shahbal was recently quoted as saying that the Jubilee administration under President Uhuru Kenyatta would use all means to win the 2017 general election even if it means rigging or buying votes.
The former contestant for the Senate seat in Mombasa County has been accused by opposition politicians in Mombasa for working with the Jubilee government contrary to the wishes of the residents of the county majority of whom back the opposition.
Lowoi was speaking to this writer in his office in a one-on-one interview.
"I call for the arrest of the Mombasa politician for his utterances amount to incitement," he added.
Mombasa county overwhelmingly voted for Cord leader Rila Odinga during the 2013 general election.
But recent visits by President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy, William Ruto indicate the two are out to convince voters back them in the next general election.
