Uasin Gishu County Assembly majority leader Josephat Lowoi has faulted the move by Treasury Cabinet Secretary Henry Rotich to ban foreign trips for government officials.

Speaking at the County Assembly on Tuesday, Mr Lowoi said Mr Rotich had no authority to ban government officials from travelling out of the country.

"Why should Rotich suspend foreign trips?" Lowoi saked.

"Banning the trips does not mean the economy will go down."

He said MCAs only travel abroad on fact finding missions.

He also said the officials travel with the objective of improving the livelihood of their electorate.

"Will suspending foreign trips add money to our country and improve our economy?" he asked.

He challenged Rotich to fight corruption in as a way of fighting graft.
