Gatundu North sub county police are investigating a day light robbery at a Kamwangi M-pesa agent that happened on Thursday afternoon allegedly conducted by 4 middle aged men.
According to Monicah Gathoni Mugo who was operating in the premise, the robbers came pretending to be normal customers but that one of them was left out monitoring any police appearance. They then removed a fake pistol and a kitchen knife and threatened to kill her if she refused to give her all the money she had.
"I screamed and all over sudden people flocked outside my shop for rescue. Luckily, one of the robbers was caught by a courageous middle aged man while the other 3 men ran away luckily with nothing," she explained.
Confirming the attack after arriving at the scene was the Gatundu North sub county commissioner Daniel Nyamiti who thanked the public for not taking the law in their hands and assured them police intervention.
"I would like to thank the youths who had the courage to catch this thug despite of him having a knife which we believe he was using to threaten Gathoni. I would also like to thank you all for not taking the law in your hands. We are now in hot pursuit of the other gangsters," he told the public.
The alleged robber whose name was not revealed has been taken to Kamwangi police station and is awaiting police investigation.
