Kisii Deputy Governor Mr Joash Maangi has said only 32 public primary schools out 600 in the county are yet to be connected with electricity.

Maang’i said there are plans in place to ensure all the remaining primary schools across the county are connected to the national electricity grid as part of the efforts to facilitate children from the area compete favourably with their counterparts from across the country.

Speaking on Saturday evening at Matongo1 SDA Church where he was the chief guest during a funds drive in aid of the Church, Maangi assured area residents that rural electrification in schools was a priority for the government.

The Deputy Governor called on the area residents to support the county government in the implementation of various projects though there were challenges of funds as the National Government delayed release of the funds to the Counties.
