Kisii deputy Governor Joash Maangi who has been on the receiving end from the Orange Democratic Movement party supporters calling for his suspension can now sigh with relief after the Kisii County ODM co-ordinating committee absolved him from any blame for leading a delegation of Gusii leaders to the Deputy President William Ruto's Sugoi home in Uasin Gishu County two weeks ago.

Reading the resolutions of the committee to the press at a Kisii hotel on Sunday evening, the county's ODM chairman Chris Obure said after a daylong meeting, the members resolved to reconcile and work together for the sake of the party's unity ahead of the 2017 general election.

Obure who is also the Kisii Senator said the committee resolved to put the debate surrounding Maangi over his role in the Sugoi trip to rest, and instead focus on building and strengthening the Orange party in the region to ensure its leader, Raila Odinga, gets enough votes in the region to realise his presidential dream in 2017.

The Senator who was flanked by Maangi, Kisii woman representative Mary Otara and other ODM officials, called on the party officials to focus on strengthening the party in readiness for the 2017 polls as time was running out.

"After considerable discussions as members of the ODM Kisii County co-ordinating committee have resolved to work towards strengthening the party in readiness for the 2017 polls instead of engaging in cheap politicking which will derail the party's agenda in the region,"stated Obure.
