Matungulu Deputy County Commissioner Patrick Mwangi has warned police against receiving bribes.
Addressing journalists in Kisukioni Town on Friday, the deputy commissioner said the government will take stern action against police officers who take bribes in a bid to secure the release of suspected criminals in Machakos County.
Mwangi said the government will not tolerate security officers who engage themselves in ‘ugly activities’ which threaten the security of the residents.
He said the act prevents residents from acquiring justice and gives way to criminal activities.
Mwangi said the habit is common among traffic police officers operating along the Kangundo-Narobi road.
"Police officers should do their job and avoid receiving bribes if we wish to fight insecurity,” said Mwangi.
He said that those who will be found culpable of the act will be sacked unlike in the past where they used to be issued with transfers.
