Residents of Maili Kumi in Bahati sub-county have praised Governor Kinuthia Mbugua a day after he commissioned a water project in the area.

On Thursday, the residents lauded the governor for the kind gesture, adding that lack of water was a serious issue in the area since they had to travel several kilometres to obtain clean drinking water.

"It has never been easy for us. Going for several kilometres to obtain clean water sometimes at very exorbitant costs. However we would like our governor for commissioning the water project which will now ensure that we have constant supply of clean water,"said Charles Kariuki.

His sentiments was echoed by Dorcas Nyokabi who said for a long time they had been confined to using salty borehole water due to lack of any choice.

"We  have had to put up with salty water because it is what several boreholes here produce. However with the commissioning of the project we are set for better times now," she added.

On Tuesday, Mbugua commissioned the Land Mawe water project which will see over 10,000 residents benefit with the piped water sourced from the nearby Banita area.

He said his administration was committed to ensuring all residents in the county have access to clean drinking water.
