Kiambu County Assembly leader of majority Patrick Chege wants the opposition to engage the government constructively instead of criticising it.

Speaking to journalists at Kiambu town on Saturday, Chege accused the opposition of trying to sabotage government activities.

He said that the move by the opposition to criticise every government activity is an indication that they have ill motives.

The majority leader alleged that the opposition is determined to make the Jubilee government fail and look bad before Kenyans.

“The opposition should engage the government constructively and stop cheap politics and propaganda,” said the Kiambu majority leader.

Chege asked the opposition to engage the government and help in providing solutions to challenges facing the country.

The majority leader said that the opposition can play crucial role in development if it engages constructively with the government.

Chege who is also the Gitothua Ward Representative said that Kenyans are tired with opposition’s speculation.

At the same time, Chege asked the opposition to support the government efforts on fighting corruption.

Chege said that the opposition’s move to blame government for failing to tame graft will not help.

“The fight against corruption should be collaborative and the opposition plus other stakeholders must support the government efforts towards eliminating graft,” said the MCA.

Chege said that corruption will be effectively fought if leaders irrespective of their political affiliations and interests work together.
