A man was arraigned before a Nakuru court on Monday for transporting property alleged to have been stolen.
Eric Aswani was accused of allegedly transporting 19 chicken that was suspected to have been stolen on November 1, 2015 along Nakuru-Kabarak road.
Aswani was found by police officers Wilson Kigen and Daniel Macharia from Baraka Patrol base at around 5:30am carrying the chicken on a bicycle, the court heard.
The officers stopped Aswani and asked him where he was from with the chicken at the time of the morning but he did not give a satisfying explanation prompting the two officers to arrest him.
Appearing before chief magistrate Doreen Mulekeyo, he pleaded guilty and said that he bought the chicken at Marigat.
"I am a businessman who buy the chicken at Marigat and transports them to Nakuru and supplies to hotels, i prefer traveling in the morning in order to beat other suppliers and to even reach early," he said
Aswani was asked by the court if the chief of the Kabarak area where he stays knows if he is that business but he said the chief did not know, urging the court that it was only his wife who knows the business he does.
the prosecution through state state counsel Hillary Songoyo prayed for a mention of the case on Tuesday for facts and to avail the exhibits before court.
"the investigating officer have not avail the exhibits, so we prayed for a mention of the case for facts and the exhibits," he said.
The court ordered that Aswani be remanded at Nakuru central police station.
