A man cheated death by a whisker Thursday evening after he jumped from a moving lorry.

The man jumped from the moving lorry at Ujamaa area in Mombasa County along the busy Mombasa-Lunganga road.

"The driver was slowing down so as to allow him alight safely but the man opted to jump from the lorry. He almost got hit by another speeding motorist," a witness who didn’t want to be named said.

Speaking to this writer, the driver of the lorry said he was shocked by the incident.

“It was bad. We almost lost him,” he said.

Drivers were urged to ensure they observe road rules.
