He appeared before Kikuyu Chief Magistrate James Ogweno for the judgement today after the ruling on December 8 found him guilty and was remanded until the judgement day.

The charge sheet read that on June 28 this year, in Thogoto, the man visited his mother's house where the mentally ill 28 year old sister lived.

The man however didn't find their mother and only found her sister who was in her room.

He is suspected to have raped her in her bedroom before escaping and leaving her helpless and bleeding.

When their mother came, she went to the daughter's room and found her in tears and screamed for help.

Neighbours came to help and saw the brother hurriedly leave the house.

They rushed her to Kikuyu Hospital as they reported the matter to the police.

On June 29, the man was ambushed by members of the public in his house in Kikuyu, who took him to Kikuyu police station.

However, the accused had earlier denied the charges and was issued a Sh300,000 cash bail.

Three prosecution witnesses, including an investigation officer, testified before the court.

Magistrate Ogweno in his judgement said:

"I hereby sentence the accused to life imprisonment. You have 14 days to appeal."
