A Mombasa court on Tuesday ruled that a man believed to be connected in the killing of a Muslim cleric has a case to answer.
High Court Judge Martin Muya ruled that Mr Mohamed Sudi will be put to his defence for the shooting of Muslim cleric Sheikh Mohamed Idris.
Judge Muya, while making his ruling, said after analysis of evidence presented before the court, the court has found that the accused has a case to answer.
Mr Sudi, however, through lawyer Chacha Mwita said he has three witnesses whom he will present in the next case hearing.
Judge Muya ordered for the case to be heard on December 14 this year.
The suspect is being accused of allegedly murdering Sheikh Idris who was the chairman of the Council of Imams and Preachers of Kenya on June 10 2014 at Manyatta area in Likoni.
The court heard that on the material date, Sheikh Idris was on his way to the mosque for morning prayers before the shooting happened.
