The Uasin Gishu County government will ensure security lights are installed in key centres in all wards to improve on security.
Governor Jackson Mandago on Wednesday said the move to lighten up the county also targets at improving business.
The initiative, he said, will lengthen business hours thus improve the economy of one of Kenya;s food baskets.
Mandago was speaking at Naiberi, Ainabkoi sub county during a tour of development projects.
He urged traders to venture into agriculture since it was profitable.
The governor took time during the tour to visit leading farmers in the sub county.
The farmers are among agriculturalists who have exceptionally performed well in the sector.
Mandago said the county government, besides erecting street lights will connect more residents to power.
This, he said will help develop the informal sector that employs a majority of Kenyans.
