Kenya National Union of Teachers Masaba branch has thrown its weight behind the newly elected national secretariat led by Secretary General Wilson Sossion over what it termed us ‘remarkable’ leadership to the teachers’ fraternity.
Mr. Sossion, Chairman Mudzo Nzili and Treasurer John Matiang’i retained their seats during the Friday’s elections at Kasarani gymnasium.
The Masaba branch led by Deputy Secretary General James Oteki insisted the trio still had more to offer to the teachers’ fraternity.
“On behalf of Masaba teachers, I want to endorse reelection of brother Sossion, Nzili and Matiangi because of their remarkable record throughout the years they have served Kenyan teachers. They still have a lot more to offer to Kenyan teachers,” he told the reporter on phone.
Oteki said the newly elected secretariat had shown its determination in fighting for the rights of teachers, a reason why many Kenyans teachers gave it a unanimous support.
“If you were keen, we never made changes because we have trust in them following their determination to fight for the rights of Kenyan teachers. Masaba teachers had instructed us to retain them and that’s what we did. We hope they will always stand for the rights of teachers,” he added.
His sentiments were supported by branch Vice Chair Mageto Michira who said the secretariat stood a good chance of negotiating salary increment for teachers.
“The secretariat under the leadership of Sossion has many things that haven’t been solved and we need it to complete its job. It has done remarkable job and it’s my wish that they will achieve salary increment for teachers,” he added.
