Residents of Gesima Ward in Kitutu Masaba have welcomed the construction of Gesima-Esani- Magombo road, two months after area MP Timothy Bosire ordered the release of Sh5m for construction of the road.
The road, which was a bone of contention between the county and Kerra was taken by Bosire, who accused the two sides of deliberately engaging in tussles to his disadvantage.
Speaking during the launching of the construction, area residents, led by Richard Moochi lauded the MP for chipping in to rescue the stalemate which had seen framers struggle to transport their farm produce to markets.
“This is a huge boost and a relief to us because this is an agricultural area. We have been enduring difficulties in transporting our produce to markets because the road is normally impassible during rainy seasons. I would like to thank the MP on behalf of the residents because this is the kind of development we want,” he said.
They also accused the county government and Kerra of engaging in endless battles over management of the roads in the region, and urged the MP to take responsibility and solve the stalemate.
“We are disappointed with Kerra and the county government over management of roads in this region. They are always engulfed in bitter rivalry, not because of management but due to their greedy attitude. We urge the MP to get tough on the matter and address the issue,” he added.
Bosire’s PA Justus Omiti said the MP resolved to add Sh2m to the project to cover Esani-Gesima following the outcry from residents.
“Initially the MP ordered renovation of Esani Magombo with Sh5m set aside for the project but he had to add Sh2m so that the road is extended to this region. This is purely a CDF project and the MP is determined to have our roads renovated for the sake of promoting growth,” he said.
