The second annual prayer day will take place at the institution's graduation square.

According to Stephen Ondiek, the convener of the prayers, the event will focus at praying for peace in the country.

The prayer session will also focus at praying for students so that they can harmoniously live with the community that lives near the university.

"Many times we usually have issues between students and the surrounding community, however, we want to pray on this day to ensure that this year is a peaceful one," said Ondieki.

Ondieki said all students will participate in the event.

Speaking to this writer on Tuesday, Ondieki said there were plans to conduct the prayer day every semester instead of every year.

"Prayers are known to work wonders, therefore coming up with such a day is beneficial to everybody," said Monica Auma.

"Through prayers we will have unity among students and the community. We expect that through this day all the perennial violence between students and the community will be a thing of the past," said Geofrey Ochieng a resident of Maseno.
