Mashimoni residents in Kibera slums are in fear due to the poor state of the latrines in the area especially during this rainy season.
Speaking this Hivisasa writer, Jeremiah Twoni, a resident at Mashimoni village said that the condition of toilets when it rains is very bad. He said that human wastes floats on the floor of toilets and this may cause diseases to them and their small kids who play around the area since the toilets are not even closed during the day. He further said that house caretakers and landlords are taking not action to solve the situation.
“We pay rent but the living conditions are bad. The blockage of toilet pipes has led to the bad smell all over the area causing us to fear even going to toilets to respond to nature calls. Our landlords and caretakers should improve the state of toilets before diseases outbreaks," added Erastus Nekesa, another resident in the area.
