Residents in Masinga Sub-County have been advised to get tested and know their HIV/Aids status.

Speaking during a Kengen roadshow held in the sub-county on Tuesday, Daniel Mwendandu, a staff member, said the company has been supporting people living with Aids, and encouraged residents to know their status.

Mwendandu said people should break the myth of 'what you do not know does not hurt you', where many people think that once you test positive, you will die soon.

"It is important for people to know their status so that they can start taking medication early and learn how to live positively,” said Mwendandu.

Mwendandu urged residents not to fear getting tested, adding that it is possible for someone to live with the virus for up to twenty years.
