Nearly 2,000 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) candidates from public schools in Mavoko Constituency will benefit from free solar lamps to help them study for the upcoming national examinations.
The initiative sponsored by the area MP Patric Makau's Foundation is intended to ensure that candidates from poor backgrounds have access to healthy light for their revisions while at home.

He encouraged the candidates to work hard and perform well in their examinations promising that his foundation would ensure that all children who sit KCPE examinations continue with their education.
“I urge you not to lose hope even if think your parents or guardians cannot afford your secondary education. You have my assurance that after class eight each one of you has a place in a secondary school because those whose parents cannot afford secondary fees will be sponsored by the Makau Foundation,” he said.
