Nakuru Governor Kinuthia Mbugua has reiterated his desire of ensuring that the county becomes better and more developed noting that he is committed to realising this.

Speaking in Naivasha on Sunday during the 5th anniversary of the Presbyterian Church of East Africa Naivasha Town Parish, Mbugua said his recent China trip was an eye opener and a chance to market Nakuru at the international level.

The governor said the insights and other minor details of the trip will be shared to everybody through specific stakeholders for the purposes of being implemented.

“I have learnt a lot from the People’s Republic of China but the most important thing was that of education, good leadership and a developed society,” he said.

According to the county boss, African leaders have to embrace dialogue and citizen participation if they want to compete with other developed nations.

“Our African countries are saturated with resources but due to poor leadership, we allow investors from other continents to come and tap our resources leaving us to struggle economically,” he noted.

While in China, the Governor signed a sister city agreement between Ningxia Province and Nakuru County aimed at bringing synergy between the two in education, culture, sports, urban planning, infrastructure, public health among others.

He was attending the second forum on China-Africa Local Government Co-operation, Trade and Investment Promotion session.
