Kikuyu Member of County Assembly on Sunday called on school leavers to maintain law and order and keep away from drug abuse.

Speaking during a church service at PCEA church Kikuyu, Binary Wainaina said school leavers need advise and guidance so that they do not engage in criminal activities and drug abuse.

He said the previous year, most parents left their children on their own hence leaving them to engage in crime and drug abuse.

The MCA said criminal activities and drug abuse were the main menace that dragged behind development since they are the next leaders.

He said saving the school leavers from drugs and crime was the best way to secure the future of the society since they are the ones that will be needed to take the society to the next level.

He said it was not only the responsibility of parents but the entire society to advise young people in the right way so that they can grow in the best way possible.

However, he said there were different sessions that youth gather weekly which is educational in terms of entrepreneurship and he urged them to be part of it.

He also urged them to engage in sporting activities and attend short courses to keep them busy and by so doing it will also keep them away from the vices.

"I want to urge school leavers to observe the law and engage in activities that will build them in positive aspects of life other than engaging in crime and drug abuse," said Wainaina.

He said that most youth between 18-24 have lost their lives through the bullet because of criminal activities.
