A learning resource centre in Gesima which stalled following delayed funding from Kitutu Masaba CDF kitty will be restarted soon, area MCA has announced.

The building has stalled for five years following regime change in constituency leadership with the incumbent MP Timothy Bosire withholding finances and calling for prosecution of previous management for alleged embezzlement of the funds.

But Gesima MCA Ken Atuti on Sunday revealed his plans to allocate Sh1 million to complete the structure which will host teachers setting and marking exams from area schools apart from hosting educational seminars.

“Personally I am disappointed that the structure was abandoned but all is not lost. I am keen to allocate Sh1 million for completion of the project once the county awards the Community Empowerment kitty that is set to be passed during the supplementary budget. And I promise in five months’ time, all will be in order,” he said.

He also promised to equip the learning centre and urged teachers to make optimum use of it once it’s completed.

“The major problem has been completion and that I have promised to settle it. I am also keen to have the facility fully equipped so it’s upon teachers to make use of it and improve education standards in our region,” he said.

The URP MCA also challenged constituency leadership to consider constructing more resource centres in the region for the purpose of improving education in the county.

“Our constituency and county at large have not been doing well in national exams. We need more resource centers across the constituency so that we improve academic standards. They are essential for both teachers and learners,” he added.
