A former Homa Bay by-election senatorial candidate has demanded an apology from Ahero MCA Onyango Aloo over defamation claims.
Mr Innocent Masara through his lawyer Lore and Co. Associates is demanding that the Kisumu County Assembly MCA tenders a written apology.
Mr Masara said the MCA wrote a damning letter to the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) rejecting his appointment to the board of management of Ahero Girls Secondary School.
In the letter shown to the media on Tuesday in Kisumu, Mr Aloo purported that Mr Masara was appointed to the board merely as a favour done by the school principal as consideration for the unexplained help.
He further alleged that Mr Masara literally camps in the school and stays at the staff room up to as late as midnight, besides being pre-qualified as a supplier in the school.
Mr Aloo claimed that Mr Masara, due to his influence, eight members of the teaching staff at Ahero Girls have been transferred.
Through his lawyer, Mr Masara argued that his reputation that he has built for over the years had been belittled.
“That our client is a public figure and a business person of repute and with widespread interest in not only Kisumu County but the country at large, a reputation that he has painstakingly built through years of hard work and dedication,” read part of the letter.
Masara said that he has been portrayed by the MCA as a reckless and an idle person that cannot be entrusted with public office.
He said that he will institute legal action against the MCA if he fails to apologise.
Mr Aloo had been served by the lawyer’s order but was unavailable to comment on the issue.
