Thika Township MCA Kennedy Mwangi has asked the Kiambu County government to create a conducive environment that will attract investors.

Speaking in Thika Town on Tuesday, Mwangi said that there is need for the county government to market Kiambu as an economic hub.

The MCA stated that the county has immense resources that can be used for the benefit of the people if exploited.

He said the government can encourage investments through formulation of friendly policies and laws on trade and entrepreneurship.

Mwangi said many business people in Thika are worried over the harsh business environment.

He said recent cases where traders stalls were demolished in some parts of the county and a market burnt down by suspected arsonists have caused fear among the business community.

The MCA asked the government to reassure the business community of their security and their property.

Mr Mwangi said investors could shy away from investing in the county if acts of hooliganism are not curbed.

He appealed to the Kiambu top leadership to engage with the business community for the sake of development.

On the same note, the ward representative asked the county government to beautify Thika Town.

He said majority of social amenities in the town are in pathetic state and need to be improved, adding that investors will put their money in an environment that is organised.

He also asked the government to improve the standards of the roads which he said are in poor condition.
