A nominated MCA has warned parents against supporting exam cheating in schools.

Farida Salim said parents should not be part of the cheating schemes which will only destroy the lives of their children.

“Better be safe than sorry. Our Children are our future and we should not be the ones participating in killing a bright future,” said Ms Salim.

She asked parents to monitor the performance of their children keenly right from start of schooling and that where the child is not performing well, parents or guardians should discuss with both the kid and the teacher.

“Get instant help for your child at the time he or she needs it. Education is a permanent life time investment. You do not gamble with it,” said Ms Salim, adding that parents should be children’s best friend and advisers as through that parents become part of their children’s academic growth.

Her advice comes few days after the Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i released the 2015 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education examination where over 5,000 cheating cases were reported.

Cheating has been very rampant in schools with fingers being pointed at candidates, teachers, examining body and also parents who collude to ensure they either get examination papers earlier or they aid in cheating during examinations.
