The Kenya Film Classification Board chief executive Ezekiel Mutua has urged players in the film industry to promote national values and the African culture through the programmes they air.

Speaking after paying a courtesy call to Uasin Gishu deputy Commissioner Christopher Wanjau, Mutua said the content which is aired on TV or in films should conform to our national values.

"I urge players in the media and film industry to air content that is friendly to our children. They should avoid content such as pornography that will not add value to our children," he said.

The CEO noted that as the film board, they are mandated to ensure that all content aired by the national TVs does not demean our culture and encourage foreign culture.

"Our children have been brainwashed by the European culture through watching films that are not African and soaps meant for adults only,” he said.

He added that he will ensure those who air obscene content are brought to book and their licences revoked.
