Gem MP has criticised President Uhuru Kenyatta's remarks on corruption in Kenya while in a country far from home.
The president remarked on corruption as being a culture that Kenyans are perfect in, while in Jewish nation Israel. Kenyatta on Thursday spoke sturdily on corruption and ethnicity as what is drawing the country behind. He was addressing Kenyan students in Israel.
He said, "Kenyans are experts in stealing and hurling insults at one another."
Deputy minority leader in the national assembly, Jakoyo Midiwo, criticised the President's utterance.
Speaking during a radio show at Nam Lolwe FM, the legislator said the president is pretending in the fight against graft. Midiwo added that it is the Jubilee leaders who are corruption champions.
"He can't address it that way in Kenya because here it is known that it is actually his government, including people who are very close to him are the ones involved in corruption," he said.
The MP added that the president fears the vibrant opposition which has persistently rebuked his government over graft.
"We as the opposition are the ones who have been pressuring for investigations into the corruption issues while he remains silent," the lawmaker added.
