Construction works at the Elburgon Technical Training Institute officially started last week with residents expressing their satisfaction terming to the project as a real life changer to them.

A majority who spoke to this writer noted that the institute spells brighter days ahead bearing in mind that it will the first of its own in the area since time immemorial.

They said that the project had not only created employment to them but also will market the area positively in the region attracting learners from different parts.

“The contractor has employed the services of most of us as manual labourers at the site something that has ensured that our youth remain engaged other than being involved in drugs and alcoholism,” noted Moses Korir, a resident.

To Melisa Chebet, the institute will improve education standards in the area something she says will make the future generations make informed decisions in matters concerning leadership so as not to fall prey to lies brought by greedy leaders out to fulfill their own interests.

“An educated society will never fall short of ideas, which is critical in any democratized society. We thank our government for choosing Elburgon as their preferred location and personally, I believe once everything is working, all of us will feel its impact,” she said.

While on a site visit at the institute, area MP Jacob Macharia noted that the project will lead to the improvement of infrastructure in the area because of its importance.

“It is the development of infrastructure and provision of quality and affordable services to the people that will lead to equity and a more transformed society, our governments’ both national and county have shown their commitment to facilitating this, let all of us show our support,” he said.

The institute is among the 290 fully equipped technical institutes to be constructed in different parts of the country so as to accord the youth a chance to acquire the necessary skills required for a better society.
