The residents on Monday complained over the rising number of road accidents along the road resulting from speeding and careless driving.

They said that they have been trying many ways including erecting temporary bumps made from soil to slow down drivers but unfortunately, the bumps have been swept away by heavy rains.

"Since this road was constructed, there has never been a permanent bump to slow down vehicles. Drivers especially coming from Kisii town are fond of speeding and thus causing unnecessary accidents," said Jeremiah Ombongi, an area resident.

On the same day earlier, a speeding car veered off the road and rolled several times after escaping a head-on collision with an oncoming vehicle.

This was one of the many cases the residents have been experiencing on the road. "We want our county government to erect bumps here as fast as possible before we lose our people," added Ombongi.
