While some individuals expressed their dissatisfaction with the move, others have hailed it as necessary.

Fredrick Kioni who confessed his allegiance to the place owing to its tasty 'nyama choma' could not hide his disappointment over the issue and blamed the health officials of striking without any notice.

"How could they close this place and yet this is where we have known as our second home? They could have at least issued a notice of compliance to the traders instead of ambushing them like that," he said.

However Nicholas Odiwuor, a resident lauded the health officials over what he termed as having the public interest at heart.

"That place is not very clean. The move to close it is therefore vert much welcome," he said.

Rose Mureithi whose business was among those closed by the health officials dismissed claims that they were engaging in unhygienic business and accused the officials of relying on rumours.

Nakuru County chief health officer Samuel King’ori had accused the traders of failing to adhere to required health standards and warned that they would continue with the crackdown until they all comply with requisite health standards.
