The body of Mlolongo OCS will be laid to rest in his Nyeri home on Thursday February 11, says Mlolongo Assistant County Commissioner, Obed Mose.
Mose said funeral arrangements were on their final stages to ensure that Chief Inspector Moses Wambugu who died on a tragic road accident on February 3, 2016 along the Mombasa Road is given a decent send-off.
“Wambugu was a dedicated officer, he was committed to serving the Mlolongo residents day and night within the one year he served at the Mlolongo Police Station. He has left a big gap in the police service which is not easy to fill,” said Mose.
Mose who addressed the press in his Mlolongo office on Tuesday said the officer was on his way from Naivasha where he had paid a visit to see his relatives back to Mlolongo Police Station in Machakos County, his station of work when a car he was driving lost control and landed into a ditch few metres from General Motors Company Limited along the Mombasa Road leading to his death.
“I personally talked to him on his hospital bed a day after the accident and he told me he had seen a man in front of him whom he was avoiding to hit before losing control of the car leading to the accident,” said Mose.
Mose said family, friends, relatives and colleagues were meeting in various places in and away from Mlolongo town to raise funds towards settling of hospital bills and meeting burial expenses.
He said the body will be moved from Kenyatta University Funeral Home this Thursday for burial at his Thegenge location home in Nyeri County same day.
