According to James Kariuki, a witness, the robber’s attempt to steal at Kiandutu clothes market was thwarted by the residents who raised alarm and pursued him as he ran towards Garissa Road Primary School.

He was however cornered by a mob that attacked and stoned him to death. It is alleged that he is a member of a notorious gang and the police have been trailing it for about a week.

Confirming the incident Kiandutu chief James Waiguru said that the robber had a toy pistol which he used to threaten his victims.

He however asked the public to shun from taking law into their hands saying that no one has the right to take a person’s life but should use the right avenues to get justice.

“This person is known, he has been robbing people especially at the market. He tried to rob a trader at the market the residents chased him to this place where he met instant justice, we have recovered a fake pistol, I plead with you please don’t take justice into your hand but use the right channels to get justice” said Waiguru.

The body of the deceased was taken to Thika’s General Kago Funeral Home.
