Embattled Nyamira Senator Mong’are Okong’o now wants Ford Kenya to review its partnership with the Coalition for Reforms and Democracy and withdraw for its own good.

Mr Mong’are was de-whipped by Minority whip Johnstone Muthama from the powerful watchdog committee - PAC- barely hours after defeating his Kakamega counterpart Bonny Khalwale in the chairmanship position.

Mong’are who was addressing Kebirigo township residents on Sunday, accused Cord of dictatorship, and challenged Ford Kenya party leader Moses Wetangula to consider withdrawing from the coalition.

“What has happened in Cord recently is a fair tell that the coalition entertains impunity that we have been fighting against. It’s my plea to Ford Kenya that we withdraw because our presence seems irrelevant. We have been partners in Cord but denying us what we rightfully took (PAC) chair is an indication that we are unwanted,” he said.

He said the decision will give the party freedom to work with like-minded parties that are out to promote the spirit of democracy without intimidating their partners.

“As a member of Ford Kenya, I am sick and tired with games being played by Wiper Democratic Movement party and Orange Democratic Movement. They are treating us badly and this is the right time to move out and strengthen our party. We want partners with mutual respect and that is what we call democracy,” he said.

He challenged top Cord leadership to open up and speak about the ouster before the matter escalates.

“The acronym Cord stands for democracy and its shameful that it’s turning out to be a dictatorial coalition. The top leadership ought to address the issue but I still believe Ford Kenya will be strong if we walk out of the coalition,” he added.
