Volunteering health officers from Nyamira county who have been working in public hospitals for a number of years will be recruited permanently to increase the manpower in the hospitals, chief health officer has said.

Dr. Douglas Bosire on Tuesday during his visit to Nyansiongo District Hospital said that his department had taken the data of the volunteer health officers who have worked for the last three years to enable them to efficiently to absorb all of them on a permanent basis.

According to him, those who will be absorbed are those who were unknowingly left out during the November 2015 recruitment.

“We have already circulated the circular bearing the names of the volunteers and they will be recruited to continue assisting doctors and nurses in our hospitals,” he added.

“These are our children and we have to respect their contributions to our health sector. Some of them have worked on a voluntary basis for the last six years and that is why I advanced their case and fortunately, CPSB and the executive have allowed the request,” he added.

According to him, it is only Nyamira Hospital, Nyansiongo and Keroka District Hospital that will have the volunteers who missed out during the November recruitment will be absorbed since they are the leading hospitals.
