Before Kisii resident judge Joseph Karanja was Lucas Nyagwachi Misati, a 36-year-old man, who was convicted on his own plea to a charge of manslaughter after denying the initial one on murder stating he had killed in cold blood his four children aged between two and nine years.

The suspect who was given the right of appeal had committed the shocking incident at Egesa village in the outskirts of Kisii town in 2012.

His mother Alexina Nyanchama  said she supported the sentence saying her son had been banished from home earlier after he had allegedly killed a neighbour’s child and threw the body into a pit latrine.

Misati had been acquitted by a Kisii court for lack of evidence only to repeat the same on his own children at a place he had relocated to.

Nyanchama disowned him vowing to bury his body at a public cemetery if he died in prison.

Pauline Kemunto, his elder sister admitted that Misati had been a source of extreme fear at home for his sadistic acts despite the fact that he had been outlawed by the community and that his case was pending in court.

Kemunto described her brother whom he had stayed with for two months as quarrelsome, wife molester, and with an unpredictable behavior.

According to her, his imprisonment was good for the safety of the family and neighbourhood.
