Kitutu Masaba MP Timothy Bosire has urged area residents to be politically tolerant and promote peaceful co-existence among each other.
Speaking at his Manga backyard on Wednesday, Bosire emphasised the importance of welcoming aspirants for various political seats without discrimination.
“I know we are heading towards electioneering period and many aspirants are coming to share with you their agenda. They deserve attention from you, so it’s important to welcome them without discrimination. What our country needs is political tolerance and peaceful co-existence,” he said.
The ODM legislator challenged residents to allow political parties make inroads in the region and assess their manifestos before making critical decisions in 2017 general election.
“Political parties are integral in our society. It’s fundamental that as electorates, you allow all political parties and their leaders to sell manifestos freely without intimidating them. It’s good to give political parties chances to table their manifestos so that you choose the best out of them. We have to always tolerate each other politically,” he said.
Bosire challenged his opponents to consider working with him to boost development and warned against inciting residents on development matters.
“I have always remained open to my competitors. They should come so that we work together. However, I will not allow instances where they incite our people against matters development. Whoever acts as an impediment to development should be treated as an enemy of the people,” he said.
The ODM National Treasurer also urged residents to work as a team to develop the region regardless of their political persuasions and beliefs.
