Kiambu MP Jude Njomo has lauded the national government through the Metropolitan department for installing floodlights in Ndumberi, Ngegu and Riabai.

Speaking to journalists in Kiambu Town on Monday, the MP lauded the installation saying that it will boost security in the area.

He observed that security had been deteriorating in the in the past few months noting that the installation the lights will keep criminals at bay.

Njomo asked the national government to extend the installation of the flood lights to other areas in the constituency.

“We are grateful to the national government for their move to install flood lights in Kiambu and want to urge them to ensure the installation is extended to other areas for the sake of residents' security and development,” said Njomo.

The Kiambu MP said that he will work with the national government to ensure that the area is lit up.

He said that lighting up the area will encourage a 24 hour economy, apart from guaranteeing security to residents and business people.

He urged the Kiambu County government to be remitting power bills on time to avoid disconnection.

Meanwhile, residents of Kirigiti Town in Kiambu constituency are complaining over frequent power disconnection.

The residents claimed that there have been power disconnections in the last week which they say has affected their businesses and daily operations.

“We are wondering why there are power disconnections yet no one has notified us on the same,” said Peter Lutta, a welder.

Mr Lutta said that power is disconnected early in the morning and only supplied late in the evenings.

The residents want the Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) to intervene on the matter.
