Nyando MP Fred Outa has appealed to the government to find a lasting solution to the Kisumu-Nandi border clashes.

Mr Outa said the situation is worrying and must be addressed at a time the country is gearing for a general election.

“Things are not looking good for the country and we cannot go to elections with such happenings, something must be done and it must be done quickly,” he said.

He said if the clashed are a result of cattle rustling then the government has machinery and capability to deal with the menace.

Speaking on Sunday when he visited the troubled border at Kibigori area in Muhoroni constituency, Outa said the President must now treat the matter as an emergency.

He said people cannot continue to lose lives and property yet there is a government that was voted into power and the President took oath to protect their lives and that of their property.

“I want to appeal to President Uhuru Kenyatta to do something about this endless clashes at this border. Our people are dying, our people are suffering and as leaders it is time we demand for answers,” he said.

He told the police to act swiftly to avert more deaths.

Outa said police officers also took oath to protect the country and its citizens and wondered why they were reluctant and people were being butchered by unknown attackers.
